Meet Our Chef: Greg Korbel
About Chef Gregory Korbel
Greg started cooking while in graduate school at NC state. He began working for Chef John Ray in 1990 when he owned Crowleys Old Favorites. He continued to work for John while also teaching English at Enfield Academy for many years. In 2001, Greg moved with him to Edwards Mill and he has been there since.
Chef Greg has made a lot of progress in those years adding more seafood items and diversity to the menu. Greg says that he was once told that one judges a chef by his soups, and soup is something he really enjoys making. He believes Edwards Mill has developed a reputation for good soup at Edwards Mill. Greg continues to bring the same home cooked food he has these last 25 years and look forward to many more years and many more creative ideas for the menu.
